On Friday the inaugural Indie Karoo Short Film Festival (ikff) will open in Prince Albert. The festival is three days long (from the 3rd to the 5th of July 2015) and includes feature, documentary and experimental short films. Exhibitions, Q&A sessions with some filmmakers, and workshops will also be on offer at the festival.
Dr Siona O’Connell’s short film, Coloured, will feature. “In Coloured, Siona O’Connell focuses on two Cape Town pageants, the Miss Gay Western Cape and Spring Queen, arguing for recognition of a group of people who continue to struggle to find a place in the post-apartheid landscape.” — writes Neethling in a Cape Times article on the event. O’Connell’s documentary, Movie Snaps, will also feature. Find out more about the Movie Snaps project, which began as an exhibition, here.
