CCA PhD candidate George Mahashe part of the artists-in-labs residency

George Mahashe is part of the artists-in-labs residency this year - a  South African and Swiss residency exchange. 

George Mahashe gained an MAFA for his photographic exhibition Dithugula tša Malefokana: Seeing other people’s stories, telling tall tales and has recently handed in his PhD which he completed at the CCA, Michaelis School of Fine Art, under Professor Pippa Skotnes.  

He has practised as a photographer, a lecturer and been a part of many conferences and symposia including the Between the Lines symposium (Michaelis School of Fine Art and Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste Braunschweig). He was nominated for the Foam Paul Huf award in 2013 and received the IFA Artist Contac award that same year.

Whilst in Switzerland he will be participating on the panel When Art and Science Meet as part of 100 Ways of Thinking, Kunsthalle Zürich. And will be part of a lecture series at Zurich University of the Arts called Kein Kino, curated by Maike Thies of ZHdK, where he will be talking about his artistic practises.
