On Saturday the 31st of January the opening of Siona O’Connell’s exhibition Movie Snaps – Cape Town remembers differently was a roaring success. Epitomizing the project itself, people from widely diverse backgrounds gathered together at the District Six museum to remember and tell stories of an experience they all shared. Business Day’s Penny Haw shares the full story of O’Connell’s Movie Snaps project – from the moment when O’Connell happened upon a Movie Snap photograph several years ago, providing the inspiration for the project, to the exhibition itself and plans for the future.
