On 17th and 18th July 2017, the Centre for Curating the Archives (CCA) organized a workshop for Honours in Curatorship students on exhibition histories. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Lucy Steeds a senior research fellow with the art programme at Central Saint Martins of the University of the Arts London. During the workshop, Honours in Curatorship students were introduced to the subject of exhibition histories focusing on exhibitions of contemporary art and curating inside and outside the museum and gallery space. They looked exhibition’s effects historically and in the present. Major exhibitions ,especially those covered by the Exhibition Histories Series, like Magiciens de la Terre in Paris, The Other Story in London, and the Bienal de la Habana in Cuba were reviewed and analysed. The students had the opportunity to share their research interests and ideas for their end of year exhibitions and theses with Dr. Steeds who was very happy to give her views and opinions on the projects. Dr Steeds also briefed the students about her recent exhibition co-curated with Nkule Mabaso of the Michaelis School of Fine Arts at the Michaelis Gallery.
